Government
A government is the system or group of people governing an organized community, often a state. In the case of its broad associative definition, government normally consists of legislature, executive, and judiciary.
Public Works Department
The Public Works Department of Tamil Nadu is a state government owned authority, and is in charge of public sector works in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is part of the Ministry of Public Works Department, and is entrusted with the construction and maintenance of buildings for most of the government departments and public undertakings, and the construction of bridges, roads, and infrastructure.
Meteorological Center
India Meteorological Department (IMD) was established in 1875. It is the National Meteorological Service in India and is the principal government agency in all matters relating to Meteorology, Seismology and allied subjects. For administrative control and technical operations, six Regional Meteorological Centres (RMCs) function with their headquarters at Kolkatta, Chennai, Guwahati, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi.
Tamil Nadu State Election Commission
The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission, an independent, autonomous Constitutional authority formed under the Constitution of India as per the Provisions of the 73rd and 74th Amendments Acts of 1992 is governed by the State Election Commissioner. As per Article 243-K read with 243-ZA of the Constitution of India, all elections to Panchayats and urban local bodies are to be held under the superintendence, direction and control of the State Election Commission.
The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission came into inception from 15th July 1994.
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) (Tamil: சென்னை பெருநகர வளர்ச்சி குழுமம்), formerly known as Madras Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA) is the nodal planning agency within the Chennai Metropolitan Area. The MMDA (CMDA) was constituted under the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act 1971 as the nodal Town planning authority for the city of Madras (now Chennai) and its suburbs. It is headed by Minister for Housing as its Chairman.
Government General Hospital
Government General Hospital or G.G.H. is a major hospital situated in Chennai, India. The hospital is funded and managed by the state Government of Tamil Nadu; hence it is state-owned. It was founded in 1664 by the British East India Company. In the 19th century, Madras Medical College joined it.
Ezhilagam
Ezhilagam is a five-story building located on Kamarajar Salai, opposite the University of Madras, in Chepauk, Chennai. It houses various government departments.
Employees' Provident Fund Organisation
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), is a statutory body of the Government of India under Ministry of Labour and Employment. It administers a compulsory contributory Provident fund, pension and an insurance scheme for Indian Work force. It is one of the largest social security organisations in the world in terms of members and volume of financial transactions undertaken.
Shastri Bhavan
Regional Passport Office (RPO) was established in George Town in Chennai (formerly Madras) in the year 1955. In the year 1966, it was shifted to the Govt. owned premises of Shastri Bhavan, Bureau of Immigration, located at 26, Haddows Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai - 600 006, where a number of other Central Govt. Offices are also located.
